Grow Up – Business-Building Alliance

A Yellow-Tie Business-Building Alliance (BBA) is a group of entrepreneurial souls who have reached what we call the grow-up stage of development – when you’re ready to focus on all aspects of career or company growth (not just finding the next lead).

We know from experience this can be a lonely and confusing time, so we created our BBA program for members who want an advisory board of peers to help them make the really hard decisions. This is where growth-oriented leaders assemble, rejoice, commiserate, share, learn, generate ideas, join forces and keep one another accountable to the commitments they make to themselves.

How Do BBAs Work?

Business-Building Alliances are about company growth, not referrals. (If your focus is on leads, check out our Lead-Sharing Group program.)

Each group is directed by a member who is accountable for setting the agenda, finding meeting space, and ensuring that meetings are productive and that group members are providing and receiving value. Directorship is up for vote every calendar year. Any group member may volunteer to direct his or her group. The group members then decide who will lead.

Members also take turns as meeting facilitators, content providers, and so forth. Plus we encourage members in one BBA to visit and provide value to members in other BBAs.

Groups meet on a schedule set by the group at locations decided upon by the group.

What Does Yellow-Tie Do To Help?

Yellow-Tie’s BBA Leadership Committee has produced a training manual for BBA directors that teaches them everything they need for launching, growing and running a successful BBA. Committee members train and then mentor directors through this process. We are also available to attend BBA meetings and facilitate, provide content value, lead exercises, and more.

Yellow-Tie members, directors, volunteers and staff have also joined forces to create dozens of BBA exercises that groups can follow at their BBA meetings to accomplish such things as getting better connected, identifying key resources, sharing research and positively impacting the St. Louis business landscape. As members create new exercises and share them, this list will grow.

Additionally, Yellow-Tie promotes its BBAs to the St. Louis community and assists with member recruiting and support.
